When Danielle and Chris started to plan their wedding weekend, they wanted to find venues that represented different aspects of their lives and captured who they are and what they love. They found the ideal blend in Newport, Rhode Island. After selecting a tranquil vineyard for the rehearsal dinner, Danielle and Chris opted to have the ceremony and reception at a romantic oceanside resort. Once they secured the locations, Danielle and Chris focused on including nostalgic personal touches in their ceremony and reception, and planning fun activities for family and friends.
From the bride…
We decided to have our rehearsal dinner at a vineyard in a quiet, neighboring town, away from the hustle of downtown Newport. It was perfect! For cocktail hour, we had wine barrel tables set up outside by the vines, as well as inside the rustic tasting barn where our close family and friends mingled to live jazz music accompanied by great wine and champagne. We had dinner outside on the tented patio, overlooking the vineyard before the trolleys took everyone back into town for some dancing. There was no better way to kick off the weekend!
For our wedding venue, I knew I wanted to be by the water but with a hint of formality. When I found Belle Mer, an open white venue with ocean views and crystal chandeliers, I knew I had found the perfect place! I wanted to keep the décor simple with the white palate of the venue, so we infused light pinks and greys throughout, making it soft and romantic. Cupcake Vineyards’ elegant labels and delicious varietals embodied the look and feel I was going for, making it the perfect wine to serve at our reception.
It was important to us that we incorporate little touches that personalized the night. For my bouquet, I took a patch of lace from my mother’s wedding dress to wrap my flowers with. Instead of having an escort card table, my aunt created a seating chart on an easel. She’s a great painter and calligrapher so she painted the Newport Bridge in the backdrop (which was the view from our ceremony at Belle Mer). We also had a cigar roller set up during the reception, rolling handmade cigars with custom made labels and matches so guests could enjoy them outside by the fire-pit and ocean view.
At the end of the night, we took trolleys back to the hotel where we continued the festivities outside with close friends and one last Cupcake Prosecco toast. We couldn’t have asked for a better night!
